We would be really grateful if you were able to publicise this event through any club database you have or via social media? We just want to get people trying out a new sport or activity on this day and the more publicity we can get the better – especially for clubs looking to increase their membership levels.
There is still some space available to showcase your particular sport or activity – no elaborate stands are required – just a coach or two with some equipment. The primary message of this email however is to ask your members to come along and bring their friends and families.
With many thanks
Chairman Sport Haslemere
To complement all the excitement of the Rio Olympic games going on at present, there is the Haslemere Festival of Sport happening on August Bank Holiday at Woolmer Hill from 12 til 4 pm. The theme is ‘Pick up and Play’, and the many clubs and activities present will be encouraging everyone visiting the Festival to come along and take part, or just soak up the atmosphere.
Football, hockey, athletics, netball, trampolining, martial arts, badminton, dance, yoga, ballet, tennis, karate, bowls, sub aqua are the many sports on offer from clubs from Haslemere, Bordon, Midhurst, Liphook, Grayshott, Chiddingfold and surrounding villages. There will be a mass open-air fun fitness session and there will be some sport or activity suitable for any age to trial – children, mums, dads and grandparents.
A carnival atmosphere will be created with music, food, a bar, classic cars and ice creams. The venue is The Edge, Woolmer Hill Sports Centre (next to Woolmer Hill School) and entrance and all the sports are free. No tickets are needed – just turn up for a fun Bank Holiday afternoon.
This Festival of Sport links in with the National Lottery campaign ‘I am Team GB’. The wonderful success of our British athletes in Rio is in many cases thanks to their funding by the National Lottery, which also gives considerable sums to grass root facilities. ‘I am Team GB’ is a campaign to thank National Lottery customers for buying their tickets, so that we feel part of the Team. We are very fortunate to have wonderful sports facilities available in the local area for us all to use, so why not celebrate and have a Festival of Sport to help promote being healthier and having fun.
So bring the family and perhaps try a new sport or activity! Monday August 29th midday – see you then! Everyone is welcome.
