I’ve decided, due to the weather conditions and for your health and safety, to cancel tonight’s training session. I’m currently at Grayshott/Hindhead and the pathways are so bad that they won’t be clear by tonight.
Please look out for information about Thursdays session hopefully it will be clear.

It has now been a year since I took over as head coach and i have really enjoyed this role working along side first Amanda and now Sarah, also having Andy and Dave available to coach, I would now like some feedback from you on how you think things have gone.
I would like to know anything you like/enjoy about the sessions or anything you dislike, including coaching methods, as we are all different in our own way. I have tried to pull the club in a different direction by bringing the different paced groups closer together, this maybe to your liking or not but please do let me know as this is your chance to have your say.

 

Also if you have any further ideas that you wish me to include in sessions, I would really like to hear from you.
The 5k TT and hills of Haslemere  have been popular and well attended, and I am planning on keeping these on the calendar. What i would like though is to have some volunteers to marshal the crossing, as it seems the same people marshal the crossing every month. It would be nice if they could occasionally run the TT themselves, therefore, I would like some other members to volunteer for the remaining dates of the 5k TT, which are
Jan 25th
Feb 22nd
March 29th
April 26th
If anyone would like to Marshall any of those dates please let me know. Ideally I would like 3 but 2 is acceptable.

Update London club place

Update on London club place as a few of you asked the same question.

After further discussion it has been decided that if you had a club place in 2013, you cannot enter the club ballot to run until 2018, this would mean you run the marathon in 2019 if you were successful gaining the club place.
So club places
Year of Place   Next Enter
2014              2019 for 2020 marathon
2015.             2020 for 2021 marathon
Etc.
This hopefully gives everyone a fair chance in our club ballot.

London Club Places

London Marathon Club places

Thank you to everyone who messaged in their ideas about how the club places should be awarded.

After meeting with the senior coaches and the chairman Bob, it was decided that we would have a ballot instead of the coaches deciding who should be awarded the places, this will be completely random selection with Bob picking the names out of the hat at the Christmas party.

The criteria to put in for one of the club places is listed below

1. you must have a rejection letter or email from VLM

2. you need to have been a paid up member since April the
year before so for this year April 2016

3. A club vest must be worn during the marathon, this doesn't
mean you can't still raise money for charity.

4. if you are lucky enough to win a place then you
can't enter the ballot again for 5 years. this will hopefully
give others a chance in the coming years.

For those that meet the criteria and would like to enter the ballot please can you hand your rejection letter or email to either myself, Sarah or Bob by Thursday November 16th.
