The New Forest 10m (and shorter fun runs for kids) is on the weekend of the 7,8,9th July this year. It's a very nice race, lovely route and well organised.
A load of us went last year and had a great time, running the local Parkrun on the Saturday as a nice little warm up before eating ice creams and cream teas in the sun, camping out and then running/watching the NF10 on the Sunday.
The campsite we used, Long Meadow, was ideal for families (and there was enough room to avoid the families if you wanted!), had a lovely stream and walks around it, and was a very short distance to the race start.
If you fancy a nice little weekend away, with a bit of running involved or not, it would be great to see you there. Let me know if you are planning on going (firstname.lastname@example.org), it's probably easier for people to book their own campsite pitch and race entry.
PS the medal they give for the 10m is quite cool - a Horse Brass
It's been a while since we first mentioned this but next weekend is our inaugural camping expedition!
As per the previous posts we are looking to camp at long meadow campsite in the new forest, with optional races Saturday at parkrun and Sunday at the new forest 10 (entry limit might have been reached).
We (Shearring mob) are camping Friday and Saturday but don't let that put you off, we can keep little Beck away from your tent if required!
It doesn't matter if you're up for running, racing or simply taking it easy with cream teas and a glass or two of wine (or all of the above), everyone is very welcome, especially if you've got fancy camping gadgets and gizmos to share....
Hope some of you can make it,
We wanted to organise a night out for us this Friday, and had previously put out a 'save the date' on this. I have unfortunately been ill, busy and away from home a lot and therefore haven't been able to get this sorted. Sorry.
The options are
- Someone really fancies going out still on Friday and creates a plan for people to follow! This could simply be drinks in Haslemere if people had the date saved and fancy a social drink.... if it helps encourage you to go out as you're on the fence, I'm probably not able to make it!
- We cancel / postpone to another date in early summer.
Sorry for any disappointment caused to anyone, some of the spring nights out have been awesome in previous years!
See you at training sometime soon,
We're looking forward to see as many of you as possible at the AGM tonight. The agenda is below.
I thought it worth reminding you that following the various reports from the committee members we are sharing a wonderful (and free!) meal. Many of you have been cooking and baking up a fantastic homemade menu, full of fresh and locally sourced ingredients....
- Chilli with tacos, wraps and dips
- Vegetable moussaka
- Garlic and Focaccia breads
- A range of fancy salads
- Brownies and cream

After chatting with a few people it seems there is a decent amount of interest in the HBAC camping trip which is great news. It should be loads of fun - a really relaxed weekend in glorious sunshine.
A few things to note -
- Book the camping and your race entry yourself
- It doesn't matter if you can't be bothered to run - come along anyway although be aware that there are no entries on the day
- Let me know if you are going so we can spread the word
- the original link to my email address was wrong.... email@example.com should work
We would like to open up the opportunity for an HBAC camping trip at a beautiful place aligned with a race (or two!) over a guaranteed sunny weekend in July. Jules and Matt Dellar already do this each year with our pals from Farnham, and we thought it would be fun to join them!
Weekend of July 9th 10th
Brockenhurst Parkrun, Saturday July 9th .
New Forest 10, Sunday July 10th http://www.nf10.co.uk/ . All 10m finishers receive a horse brass, something I always like to get as part of a race goody bag, especially when the race only costs £13. We could even have a go at winning the male and/or female team prize
We are looking at using Long Meadow campsite
Anyone at all! A great opportunity to come with or without children. Either way, I'm sure there will be lots of chance for some relaxed drinks and barbeque action.....
Let me know if you are keen on coming along and simply book yourself into the race - firstname.lastname@example.org
