Chichester 10k

The lure of HBAC Grand Prix points must have been a real incentive for this year as we have never had such a great turnout for the Chichester 10k.
After an early start we all started arriving in an empty car park and proceeded to have a wander round to check out the start and finish areas.
After a warm up and team photo we headed towards the throng of runners gathering for the start. Everyone was sectioned into waves based on predicted finishing times. We split ourselves up in a similar fashion to our training nights of Fast/Mid/Gentle, to get into the predicted finish time corrals. After some chat and a slow walk to the start we were funnelled up a narrow road and the race was started.
At the front new member Sandie McDougall had a stunning debut running in Border colours for the first time finishing fourth lady in a time of 36 mins. Dan first home for the men wasn't too far behind in a time of 36.20. Dan was pleased to get a fast 10k under his belt as part of his London Marathon training. The ladies managed to field two full teams this year. The first team finished 4th; (Sandie MCDOUGALL (00:36:00) Sally GOBLE (00:39:55 PB) Donna READ (00:42:45 PB) and the second team finished 20th; Alexandra CROUCHER (00:43:42) Theika BOTTERILL (00:47:57 PB) Lisa BLAYDEN (00:51:21 PB) Alex blamed the chocolate pudding from the previous night for not beating her PB.
When you look at the other teams we were up against, we can consider it a very impressive result. Rachael Barlow completed the race with Luke Brocks. This was Rachel's second ever 10k and finished just outside her previous time at Stubbington in 60.55. Lynne Harrison ran her very first 10k finishing in a time of 61.36 PB
The men managed to field 3 complete teams and just like the ladies went home with a bag full of pbs. The first team finished 26th Daniel ALLAWAY (00:36:20) Lawrence HOLLOM (00:37:03 PB) Matt BURGHAM (00:42:31 PB)  Lawrence is now ranked 3rd in his U17 age group for 10k. The second team finished 64th Johnathan BARKER (00:42:35 PB)  David BATEMAN (00:47:16) Robert MONTEATH (00:47:27) You'll notice that JB narrowly missed out on being in our first team by FOUR secs... Matt and JB had a great battle right up to the finish line. The third team finished in 74th all running PBs; Stephen KING (00:48:14 PB) Cairon PEARSON (00:48:22 PB) Andrew BAWDEN (00:50:06 PB)  Finally and also with a PB was Dave Card who gets quicker with each race finished with a time of 59.22 taking 3 mins off his previous best. After the race we all discussed the race and how we enjoyed it and queued at the burger van for some much needed tea and bacon butties. Great event and great team spirit. Special thanks go to Rupert Hollom for braving the cold weather to take the photos.
