FYI

FYI
As of this week Thursday training sessions will no longer be at the track, which means winter is coming  we will meet at Grayshott shoppers car park next to the fox and pelican.

For the next few weeks, we aim to make use of the fading light at Ludshott, this week will be a run out in different groups.
Tuesday's will still be at the track until further notice, although we won't have the lanes.

Lucy’s Psychology Project

Hi HBAC seniors,

I have been a member of the club for 4 years and have been helping out with the junior session for about 18 months. I am currently studying at Godalming College and am about to undertake an EPQ (extended project qualification) in Psychology. My research is about whether mood has an impact on running speed, and I thought the best participants to use would be the HBAC seniors!

I will be running my experiment tonight (Tuesday 5th September) during your normal session. Taking part is completely voluntary, and if anyone doesn’t want to participate that is absolutely fine, but the more the merrier. As well as this, the data I collect from you will remain completely anonymous, however I will require names just to relate your mood score with your running time.

All you will need to do is fill out a simple ‘mood sheet’ that I have created, and then run the 1 mile time trial.

I will be grateful to everyone who chooses to take part, thank you in advance!

See you later,

Lucy

REMINDER: 2017 BHG Handicap Chase – 01/09/2017 – 6:15pm

Hello All,

Two weeks today, John Raynor will attempt to retain the trophy for the BHG Handicap Chase. 14 runners are already set to take on the challenge, all hoping to take home silverware. If you haven't yet emailed me to enter, then get your entries in soon! All details are below...

Luke

Hello All,

Last year saw the inaugural BHG Handicap chase take place on the slopes of Gibbet Hill. 14 brave competitors raced round the classic BHG loop, with John Raynor taking home the coveted trophy.

This year’s event will take place on Friday September 1st at 6:15pm, and it would be great to get as many runners as possible!

Concept

Based on the Bowlhead Loop Strava segment, entrants will set off in a handicap chase, with the first runner departing at 6:15pm (the one with the slowest time). Each entrant will then depart based on the time that they are quicker on the segment than that person.

Segment: https://www.strava.com/segments/6565926

Rules

The most important rule is that you must have run the route prior to the event (even if it’s just a jog). This is to ensure that you are familiar with the route – we don’t want anyone getting lost!

To determine your start time, ideally you’ll have run the segment in the time span below. If not, I will assign a starting time based on recent races listed on Power of 10 etc. There may be some “organiser’s discretion” for starting times, to ensure the finish is as close as possible.

The times from last year will be included in the chase (unless you’ve gone quicker recently!), and for any new entrants the segment time used in the chase will apply from 08/09/2016 - 31/08/2017.

Following the end of the chase, beers/food in the Punchbowl Hotel.

If you wish to enter, please email me at lbrocks91@gmail.com.
