Todays Runner League – Staunton Country Park 18th March.

Race Information

Denmead Striders Organised Round of

Today’s Runners Cross Country Series to be held on

Sunday 18th March 2012, Staunton Country Park,

Leigh Park, Havant, starting at 11.00 am

Welcome to the final Today’s Runner Cross Country League race of 2011/12.

LOCATION / DETAILS OF COURSE AND CAR PARK

The course will be at Staunton Country Park as per previous years, and subject to final permissions being granted we will be using the same course as last year.  The start will be in the Park.

Parking at Staunton Country Park is limited, and there is a short walk to the start.  Car sharing is strongly recommended and encouraged as last year we were close to capacity. Competitors and supporters must follow the instructions of the car park marshals to the correct area as failure to do so could lose the co-operation of the Country Park and future use of this course.  Additional parking is available at Havant Thicket which is located 15-20 minutes from the start.

There will be no changing facilities at the start, so please come ready to take part.

Please be aware that the Country Park is open to the public on the day of the race and there will be walkers and dogs etc on the course.  Please ask all runners to be courteous to any other persons that they may come across using the paths during the race. Where possible any obstacles or hazards will be clearly marked or marshalled, but great personal care must be taken.

FIRSTAID

First Aiders will be positioned around the course, marshals will have contact details.

Runners must be aware that they take part at their own risk and should be fit enough to enjoy this demanding course.

REFRESHMENTS

Refreshments will be served for the usual charge of £1.00 at:

Front Lawn Junior School, Broadmere Avenue, Havant, PO9 5HX (off Middle Park Way)

Toilet facilities are available, but unfortunately, no showers or washing facilities.

Please ensure that muddy shoes are not worn in the school hall after the race.

RESULTS

Result Sheets will be handed out on the day at the race director’s desk close to the start line of the race. Please complete and hand these in promptly after the race. Race results will be read out at the school as soon as collated.

PLEASE NOTE:

All runners must wear a club vest.

Please observe the time limits:

No men who have run faster than 5.30 min/mile over a measured race of 5 miles or longer in the 12 months prior to the start of the season.  This converts to a 10K time of 34:15.

No women who have run faster than 6.00 min/mile over a measured race of 5 miles or longer in the 12 months prior to the start of the season.  This converts to a 10K time of 37:26.

We look forward to seeing you on the day and hope that you enjoy the race and that the weather is kind to us.

Regards

Cross Country Weekend 12/13 November.

Saturday 12th November you're invited to take part in the Hampshire League event at Goodwood. There is no clash with Surrey League for this fixture so maybe some of the ladies not able to run on Sunday would like to have a crack at the ladies race at 13:35. Anyone is welcome to take part... you don't have to be fast and I'm pretty confident... no one will be last... have a think about it anyway... no entry fees... just need to turn up with your club vest and trail shoes... If you don't have a club vest yet... just ask Jackie, Paul or myself... and we can sell you a new one for £20...... or provide you with an "old style" vest to use.

Details of the Saturday race at Goodwood are below... let us know if you'd like to have a run. Newlyweds Mr and Mrs Spandley are aiming to be at both races this weekend... so come along and congratulate them if you can... and run of course ;o) Richard is on honeymoon this week... so if you have any questions on these races please contact Dave B.

Sunday 13th November you're invited to take part in the Todays Runner League event at Queen Elizabeth Country Park. This venue is also very close to us, South along the A3 to Horndean. http://www3.hants.gov.uk/qecp

The race starts at 11am, but we're advised to line up early to observe the minutes silence for Remembrance Sunday. Once again... no entry fee... all you need is your club vest and trail shoes... We all run together, course distance is approximately 5 miles... and very similar terrain to our own Punchbowl, Gibbet, Blackdown etc... so yes... there are hills and mud involved ;o) Plus also some slippery chalk paths... I'm assuming its going to be wet... as it usually is for this race.... but it adds to the fun...

If you'd like more information on this race contact Jackie or myself.

Hope to see you at one or both of these events. Will be brilliant to see some of the new faces that have joined us during the summer.

Cheers

Dave
