The 2026 chase took place at the Devil's Punch Bowl using the established Bowlhead Loop handicap format. This page is retained as a historical record; no 2026 results have been published here.
The Handicap Format
The event used the Bowlhead Loop Strava segment. Runners were assigned staggered start times from their previous recorded segment times, with the slowest runner starting first and the fastest starting last.
The handicap was designed to bring runners of different speeds towards the finish at a similar time.

What Is a Handicap Chase?
Slower runners start first and faster runners follow at calculated intervals based on previous performances.
The aim is a close finish that gives every participant a realistic chance within the handicap format.
Route
The 8.5-mile (13.7 km) route started at the top of the boat road, went out and around Bowlhead Green, and returned to the same finish point.
The route followed the Bowlhead Loop Strava segment. Participants were expected to know the un-marshalled route and run with normal care.
